Preschool is a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with learning, playing and socializing in a structural setting.
Teacher profiles
Mrs. Miller has worked with children for over 20 years, from fostering 45 children in her home, and adopting 5, to nurturing and guiding them through the early childhood learning process at CCS. She has been a preschool teacher for 15 years. Mrs. Miller's greatest joy comes from spending time with children and interacting with them.
Curriculum
Themes are selected throughout the school year that teach and reinforce basic skills such as counting, letter recognition and phonic sound, cooperating with others and following directions. Language development and early literacy are also included through stories, rhymes, songs, drama and role play.
Classroom activities
Field trips: Preschool go on 6 to 7 field trips throughout the year. They are posted as they are scheduled. Car seats are mandatory.
We have weekly themes for learning about the world around us that a preschooler can relate to. We also focus on "the letter of the week". Our Math curriculum is "hands-on" with objects to think with. Incorporating manipulatives into mathematics lessons in meaningful ways helps children grasp concepts with greater ease. Bible time is a big part of our preschool experience. We focus on a particular Bible story each week and apply a biblical principle or virtue into our lives by practicing it all through the week. We build on these principles throughout the school year. Socialization is a prime focus in our class. We want to learn how to share, be cooperative and care for one another.
